CITATION

“Born This Way.” Konvict Muzik. Web. 18 Jul 2011.

RHETORICAL ANALYSIS

Rhetorical Situation

Author: Lady GaGa, whose real name is Stefani Joanne Anglina Germanotta.  Is an incredibly popular music artist who is known all over the world.  She became extremely well known in 2008 after her first album release of Fame.  And she has only continued to grow in popularity.
Purpose: The purpose of this video is to entertain and to draw out emotion.  All music videos are made to entertain viewers, but there is so much meaning behind this video and what is being said that it’s twofold.
Context: The beginning of this video is representative of birth.  It is designed to lead into what the song is going to be about-that it is okay to be different.  Lady GaGa is a great representation of being different because she openly embraces it and as this song and video show she would like others to as well.  This matters in this content because of the liberating feeling it may give to those who do think of themselves as different and struggle to embrace it, or even hate it.  Intersex people may or may not fall into that category.

Context:  This article was written so that some of the struggles intersex people experience are brought into light.  Parents make decisions for their children everyday, but is there a point in which they should not be allowed to make some decisions? Also, this article serves to show that intersex is not that uncommon and there are many famous persons that are well known who are, in fact, intersex.
The video brings awareness to the struggles some people are faced with.
